Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) was RU launched in 1995 and it defines corruption as the "misuse of public power for private benefit" and ranks 180 countries on a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean)
Syria, South Sudan, Venezuela, Yemen, North Korea, Burundi, Haiti, Libya, 10 and Equatorial Guinea are among the top 10 most corrupt countries in 2022, with corruption perception scores ranging from 12 to 17.
The top 10 least corrupt countries in 2022 include Denmark, Finland, and New Zealand with a score of 87, followed by Norway, Sweden, Singapore, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, and Ireland.
India is ranked 85th on the CPI in 2022, while the United States holds the 24th position
In contrast, the 2023 Best Countries rankings by U.S. News, BAV Group reveal a different perspective. Russia tops the 2023 corruption ranking in this survey of 87 countries, with Iran and Colombia following closely.
