Only women living below poverty line can avail this scheme. All the women who want to take advantage of this scheme have to go to the official website and apply. Under Janani Suraksha Yojana, pregnant women have been divided into two categories by the government.

Based on which they will be given financial assistance by the government. These categories are as follows:-

Pregnant Women in Rural Areas:- Under Jana Suraksha Yojana, all those women who are pregnant (at the time of delivery) and living below poverty line will be given financial assistance of ₹ 1400 by the government. Apart from this the ASHA associate will be given ₹300 for delivery promotion and ₹300 for providing post delivery service.

Pregnant Women in Urban Areas:- Under this scheme, financial assistance of ₹ 1000 will be provided to all pregnant women at the time of delivery. Apart from this the ASHA associate will be given ₹200 for delivery promotion and ₹200 for providing post delivery service.

When Janani Suraksha Yojana was implemented in Gujarat

As you all know, through Janani Suraksha Yojana, free medicines, food, free treatment etc. are provided to pregnant women. Apart from this free nutrition is provided for 3 days in case of normal delivery and 7 days in case of C-section.

This scheme has now been implemented in Gujarat as well. The PGI administration has issued written orders to implement the scheme on June 23. After which free medical services will be provided to registered pregnant women and newborns up to 1 month after delivery in all institutions.
